Human suffering is everywhere, and on a scale unimaginable to those in safe and stable environments. And wherever there is conflict, disaster, displacement, or despair, Medair is on the ground in the hardest-to-reach places, providing healthcare, delivering life-saving medicine, feeding malnourished children, and supporting communities.
Technology is an essential part of the organization’s toolkit. When it has the right data at the right time and in the right place, it can respond more quickly and effectively. It can be the difference between life and death. Being able to accurately determine how many people it supported and whether it had achieved its goals in saving children’s lives to secure much-needed funding and support wasn’t possible.
APPROACH
Driving the right actions with data
Medair began using Qlik in 2013. Typhoon Haiyan had just hit the Philippines, and the scale of destruction was staggering. More than a million people lost everything.
Discovering Qlik was a lightbulb moment. The organization achieved incredible results during its time in the Philippines: building over 1,600 homes and repairing another 1,200 in just 18 months.
It was the beginning of a major shift for Medair. It began using Qlik for needs assessments so it could gain an accurate account of what people on the ground needed, not what it assumed they needed.
RESULTS
Bringing a bold data vision to life
Medair developed a vision to be ready to respond using accurate, secure, and complete data at the click of a button.
A team member could previously spend eight days every two weeks manually compiling data. Now, they could do the same job in seconds. Instead of spending days building reports, that team member could spend more time directly serving people.
The organization is now looking to migrate to Qlik Talend Cloud to synchronize data between systems, cleanse and validate data, and increase availability via modern APIs.
