CHALLENGE

Developing a data-driven culture of continuous improvement

Groupe Chevalier specializes in manufacturing jewelry and luxury items, primarily operating with brands such as Arthus Bertrand, Pichard-Balme and Drago Paris – manufacturer the prestigious Legion of Honor.

As the business grew, it became increasingly clear that it didn’t have the analytics tools to manage this expansion. An initial measure was implemented with data extracted from the group’s various IT systems, analyzed in Excel and Microsoft Power BI, but the solution was not viable. The data retrieval process was too lengthy and the analysis was not shared internally. The group also had to meet new business needs with the development of e-commerce.

APPROACH

A modern end-to-end data platform

Groupe Chevalier decided to implement a new data platform, capable of managing data from the source to the analysis phase, and opted for Talend Data Studio and Qlik Sense.

Qlik Talend met Groupe Chevalier’s need for data integration within its data warehouse and for inter-application data transfers, while Qlik Sense was chosen for its excellent performance in analyzing large volumes of data, thanks to its in-memory model that produces near-immediate response times. Other attractive aspects included the solution’s responsive design and ease of use.

RESULTS

Significant improvements to operational performance

Time-savings have been equally significant. Before the implementation of Qlik Sense and Qlik Talend it took one hour each day to retrieve data that is now supplied automatically within the dashboards. This improved efficiency allows staff to perform more in-depth analysis to inform decisions that directly impact performance.
