CHALLENGE

A business at the forefront of innovation in Colombia

Based in Cali, Colombia, and with 19,000 staff across Latin America and beyond, Carvajal’s operations range from paper and packaging to technology and process outsourcing.

As it developed its digital operation, in 2008 Carvajal added analytics to its suite of services but struggled to find a business intelligence (BI) platform with the capacity to process the high volumes of information required by its clients. As Carvajal searched for a more powerful solution, it turned to a local Qlik Partner, Manar Technologies, which introduced the business to Qlik.

APPROACH

QlikView® was the perfect springboard for Carvajal’s analytics operation, and when it was time to move to the next level, Manar proposed Qlik Cloud® Analytics, and, in particular, Qlik Sense®.

With updated graphics, a more responsive design and self-service capabilities, Qlik Sense appealed immediately to Carvajal. It allowed Carvajal to substantially overhaul its client-facing offering, giving end users the opportunity to shape solutions to match specific requirements. And with AI on board, Carvajal could take advantage of Insight Advisor to complement the analysis with strategic insights driven by natural language.

The sales, logistics and marketing teams of over 300 companies are now regular Qlik users – a figure that is rising steadily as Carvajal implements an exciting international growth strategy. The switch to Qlik Sense has already led to a 10% rise in user numbers and associated sales.

Automated reporting now breaks down silos between functions and enhances seller and supplier-specific data with wider market and financial information.
