We Do Advising Differently: Our 10-Step Approach to Advisory Services

As I recently transitioned to Qlik's Professional Services team to lead Advisory Services, I embraced a clear mission: to engage in high-level discussions with business stakeholders that drive faster value and enhance your return on investment (ROI). By employing a structured 10-step approach grounded in a repeatable agile methodology, we are actively enabling our customers to overcome challenges and achieve their strategic objectives. 

The 10-Step Approach 

Our 10-step framework is designed to streamline the advisory process, ensuring we quickly identify pain points and deliver actionable solutions. In short, we prioritize speed to value. 

Here’s how we do it: 

1. Understand and Document Your Strategic Objectives: This is critical. Aligning solutions with your organization’s overall goals helps avoid internal challenges in securing approvals to move forward. We focus on activities that drive your organization's mission. 

2. Identify Pain Points: We pinpoint the specific obstacles preventing you from achieving your objectives. 

3. Define Expected Outcomes: What would you gain if we address these pain points? 

4. Establish Success Metrics: This step emphasizes accountability by defining how we will measure success. 

5. Assess Value: What ROI would you achieve if we resolved these pain points? 

6. Identify Required Qlik Capabilities: We focus on the business problem first, identifying the necessary capabilities within the Qlik stack to address it. This approach is KEY to enabling the right tools at the right time. Note: We are not LEADING with technology. We are leading with expected business outcomes. 

7. Chart Your Path Forward: We scope the work to enable a specific high value use case, ideally sized as Small or Medium (not exceeding 10-12 weeks for delivery). Our aim is to show value quickly. 

8. Enable Capabilities Using Agile Methodology: You don’t need to tackle everything at once to realize value; we can implement a solution incrementally. Very similar to application development… applications are typically rolled out in phases, adding functionality as needed, requested. 

9. Check-In: We assess our progress toward expected outcomes. Are we seeing value? 

10. Iterate: Return to step 1 to begin your next prioritized use case or revisit your roadmap. This is your chance to adjust plans based on reality, with minimal impact.
