Bringing a Sustainable Approach to Giving

This past holiday season Qlik “went local” with our giving, reducing our carbon footprint while increasing the impact of our team’s charitable mission.

In working with our teams across Qlik, I consistently hear how proud our staff is to be part of an organization that is truly committed to giving back and making an impact in the world. Our teams are especially focused on climate change, which is so in sync with our Qlik.org mission to help organizations use data to address the global climate issues we all face.

This year, we decided to extend all the great work our teams undertake every year in both areas – giving back to their communities and making a positive impact on the climate – to evolve our holiday gifting program.

Instead of sending holiday gift baskets to team members in dozens of countries, we enabled staff with $50 each to give to local charities to help those less fortunate. This enabled everyone at Qlik to extend the spirit of giving in our own communities to the causes important to us all. And eliminating the shipping of thousands of holiday gifts around the world supports Qlik’s commitment be a carbon neutral company as part of the Race to Zero campaign and initiatives of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

So, what kind of impact did our teams drive this year?

  • Qlik Employees directed over $125,000 to charities around the globe.

  • Our team supported over 1,000 different causes supported globally, including organizations like St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity, Australian Red Cross, The Akshayapatra Foundation, Michal Sela Forum and World Central Kitchen.

  • Over $500 was committed each to 16 global charities that reflect our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion values represented by our Employee Resource Groups

Even though we celebrate the holiday season in different ways around the world, we are united in our efforts to make the world a better place. As one of our team members said:

“I applaud the choice of providing a donation instead of a Christmas basket. As an elderly woman once told me, she (and we) are, “Too Blessed to be Stressed!”

2022 was a difficult year for many. The entire Qlik organization is humbled and grateful that we could extend goodwill through hundreds of worthy charities to those experiencing hardship, and we look forward to continuing to support our teams as they continue to engage in their communities throughout 2023.

Making a local impact through giving and meeting sustainable goals can work hand in hand.
