What Is The Future Of The Office?
Qlik’s Partner Engineering and Innovation and Design teams demonstrate how colleagues will collaborate in the near future.
One of the things I am always curious about is how prior generations saw their future and how they interpreted what life would be like.
There isn’t any correct answer per say, but revisionist history is always a fascinating exercise. In 2014, the BBC wrote up an interesting account of Isaac Asimov’s predictions tied to the 1964 World’s Fair of what the world would look like in 50 years.
In 1968, guitar virtuoso Jimi Hendrix included a 13-minute epic on his album Electric Ladyland to paint a surreal picture of the future called “1983... (A Merman I Should Turn to Be)”.
More recently, there was the “In The Year 2000” comedy sketch from the talk show Late Night With Conan O’Brien. Conan and a celebrity guest would take turns reading predictive jokes under the cover of darkness with flashlights. And then of course there was the Late Show band’s trombone player simply known as “La Bamba” who would croon in a high-pitched falsetto repeating the segment name – truly magical television.
Enough reminiscing – it’s about time that Qlik took a look into the future! The Future of the Office. Our Innovation and Design team, led by Donald Farmer, has been working behind the scenes with our Partner Engineering team and our friends at Metric Insightsto create a tangible version of what collaboration might look like in an office of the future. All of these videos point to so much more that our offices are capable of in the not-too-distant future. There are clearly opportunities for greater connectivity and collaboration. Gaining new access to your data is just step one – but wouldn’t it be nice to work more effectively and more efficiently with your colleagues?
