CHALLENGE

Local service, local focus

For United Federal Credit Union (United), success depends on blending a strong digital offering with building mutually beneficial connections with its members.

United’s previous data environment was based around nightly batch loads and updates. While functional, for a business driven by highly personalized and timely contact in a fast-moving world it wasn’t ideal. United needed to make critical data available across the business in near-real time and present it clearly and effectively.

APPROACH

Simple solutions for a new environment

Transforming the way United managed and presented data coincided with an upgrade to a new core banking system. The new solution consisted of Qlik Replicate handling data replication in a hybrid environment comprising on-premises sources, the new core banking platform and Snowflake operating in Azure. Qlik Cloud Analytics would then handle analytics and visualizations.

Managing such a foundational project was also an opportunity to showcase Qlik, demonstrating how it could deliver valuable results without needing a dedicated developer.

RESULTS

Early wins drive exciting use cases

United can now move away from static and delayed reporting to a dynamic, timely and powerful source of actionable information.

One example of how Qlik contributes to United’s operation is the Deposit Flow Tracker dashboard, which was built in response to multiple bank failures early in 2023 that were, in part, caused by a series of catastrophic, large-scale withdrawals from those banks’ customers.

If United sees members making large withdrawals, it can call them and have conversations about their situation.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU

Enabling time-sensitive messaging

Personalization is a core pillar of United’s strategy and having access to real-time information where and when it’s needed is helping the business deliver its messaging more effectively than ever.

The combined forces of Qlik Replicate and Qlik Cloud Analytics are also helping to transform the credit union’s attitudes to data and analytics, placing insights into the hands of a growing number of users. It’s an excellent example of how Qlik works for any business looking to develop and deliver time-sensitive messaging quickly and accurately.

We are seeing far more requests coming in for Qlik dashboards and far fewer for the old static reports. I’m really excited to see where the new ideas come from and how they evolve.
