Have you ever started a new project, only to realize the tools you’re currently using just weren’t going to cut it? I’m sure other project managers agree that it can put a real spanner in the works.
In 2013, we found ourselves in a similar situation at PSCU. And so our journey for a better BI tool began.
As the largest credit union service organization in the United States, a bare minimum requirement is knowing that our data is handled securely and confidentially 100 percent of the time. With one of our previous BI services, we found that we were not able to deliver content to select users in an effective way – and it required a lot of hard coding on the back end. We needed a solution that would work for varied skillsets across the business.
Enter Qlik. After just one initial training session, I was quickly able to adapt what I had learned into 10-12 production-ready dashboards, which was much more effective for our organization. Long story short, this is exactly why we chose Qlik.
Capabilities to Match Every Business Need
Like any financial services company, getting actionable data to help us make decisions is vital. With Qlik Sense Insight Advisor, we literally “drag and drop” directly into the platform, and it cleans up our data without any manual work. And the Qlik Associative Engine really does live up to its reputation. It removes a lot of the guesswork as you start to work with your data, ultimately helping you make better decisions.
After seeing the success my team in the Enterprise Program Management Office was having with Qlik compared to other BI platforms, other teams soon followed suit, and we’ve seen measurable value across our business.
Teams are able to pull their own reports and data without having to come to our team to do it for them, and the trending and forecasting capabilities have been a real game-changer. Tracking CapEx is important, and we know this is under control with Qlik Sense – we’re able to track project costs and forecast three to four months ahead, which we weren’t able to do before.
The Right Decision for PSCU
We work with a lot of contractors, and recently one suggested we switch to another BI platform. My answer was simple: “Yes, we could, but we get actionable insights in less than 10 minutes with Qlik.” Right then and there, I was able to point, click and create a dashboard in Qlik Sense.
On a personal note, Qlik has also been helpful in my own “upskilling” journey. I’m a self-taught developer and Qlik has helped hone my expertise and focus my unique value. The capabilities and intelligence in Qlik help bridge knowledge gaps and the support I get through Qlik Nation – a dedicated Qlik customer community – is incredible.
At PSCU, we are committed to the right tools for the right job, leveraging BI and data management tools to help exceed our clients’ expectations. Qlik has been a valuable tool to help us uphold this commitment.
There are #BI Tools aplenty, but none better than @Qlik Sense, per David Tate at PSCU, explaining why there’s #NoPlaceLikeQlik
