Qlik is proud of our partnership with Medair, supporting projects throughout Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Haiti. Together we are committed to supporting the most vulnerable populations on our planet. That work was honored recently when, along with Medair, we were given the Corporate Engagement Award for Most Innovative Collaboration in 2018 recently in London.
Medair is a humanitarian organization that has been aiding people in crisis in over 30 nations across the globe since 1989. Medair’s mission to bring relief and recovery to people in crisis heals communities, feeds families, provides safe water and sanitation, helps in disasters and innovates through technology. Over the past two years the organization has been aiding individuals and families affected by the Syrian Crisis.
A significant problem supporting these efforts was the lack of available data to fully understand the needs of those affected. To generate a fuller picture of financial requirements, food supplies, and necessary distribution of personnel Medair turned to Qlik’s data analytics platform. Medair, alongside other NGOs in the region, took advantage of Qlik’s Open Data Toolkit, allowing for population on health and nutrition metrics even in environments without internet access. Qlik worked with Medair personnel to create and collect data from the entire zone of conflict, and the resulting dashboards created a level of visibility that enabled Medair to better assess the mission’s progress and better identify funding gaps.
Since Qlik’s involvement, Medair and other agencies across the region have resolved issues such as pinpointing scattered refugee settlements in Lebanon. Rescue workers can now accurately identify settlements consisting of hundreds of thousands of refugees through data. With Qlik, aid organizations have timely information on updated locations, demographics and specific needs of each settlement. Together the efforts and resources of Qlik and Medair demonstrate the lifesaving impact of when NGOs apply analytics, and we look forward to assisting other Medair campaigns.
