Qlik Completes IRAP Assessment to Enable Trusted, End-to-End AI Foundations at Australian Government Agencies and Regulated Industries

IRAP assessment further accelerates cloud migration and AI enablement for public sector customers

Sydney, February 14, 2024Qlik® a global leader in data integration, analytics and AI, today announced it has completed assessment by Australia’s Information Security Registered Assessor Program (IRAP) at the Protected level, allowing public sector customers to not only modernise their data operations, but to leverage AI for more effective and impactful service delivery.

This classification enables the Australian Government and Regulated Industries to confidently utilize Qlik's advanced capabilities, from data integration to AI/ML insights, transforming data challenges into strategic opportunities, addressing national priorities, optimizing resources, and efficiently delivering precise, citizen-centric services.

Governed and administered by the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC), IRAP independently assesses system security to align with Australian government policies and guidelines, evaluating both software and organisational policies. Amidst prevailing cybersecurity concerns, the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) mandates the 'Essential Eight' standards, with IRAP playing a pivotal role in evaluating and reinforcing these critical standards.

Australia’s Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR), a long-standing customer since 2016, has utilised Qlik’s solutions for data-driven decision-making and effective program management. With the new IRAP classification, DEWR can now fully implement and benefit from the purchased cloud solution.

“We use Qlik’s data analytics platform every day to influence government policy, inform operational decisions and support program management. Accurate data allows us to make informed decisions that support all Australians and to communicate with our stakeholders more effectively. This new classification further propels our move to the cloud, allowing us to future-proof our operations and help deliver a best-in-class employment infrastructure,” John Carroll, Director Qlik Engagement Team, DEWR

“The completion of our assessment is testament to our dedication to maintaining the highest cybersecurity standards, delivering substantial value to Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and Chief Security Officers (CSOs) within the Australian government. This classification as Protected Level reflects Qlik’s commitment to providing secure, reliable data solutions to streamline and optimise processes for government agencies”, Geoff Thomas, Senior Vice President, APAC, Qlik.

The pivot towards cloud adoption among public sector agencies is also driven in part by the imperative to harness the potential of AI, which relies on cloud platforms. Research shows that public sector agencies across Asia Pacific are increasingly adopting multi-cloud deployments, pushing vendors to focus on integration and interoperation as key capabilities.

In response to this evolving landscape, Qlik's agnostic cloud-platform emerges is well-suited to harness the power of data intelligently to enhance the delivery of public services in Australia.

"Our meticulously crafted SaaS environment not only aligns with the stringent standards of IRAP's Protected Level, but also stands as a testament to our steadfast dedication in providing tailored support to empower and elevate government initiatives in Australia. Qlik Cloud empowers our public sector customers to propel their digital transformation journey, allowing them to harness data intelligently for superior public service delivery and to improve citizen outcomes”, said, Mark Fazackerley, Country Manager ANZ, Qlik

Qlik has been instrumental in the digital transformation journeys of several public sector agencies, including the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR), Australian Department of Health, NSW Department of Customer Service, and the Australian Defence Force.
