CHALLENGE

Centralization challenge and value

The US Defense Health Agency (DHA) is a joint, integrated combat support agency that provides integrated healthcare and medical services for the Department of Defense (DoD) on and off the battlefield.

It needed to merge three large-scale medical systems from the US Navy, Army and Air Force into a single enterprise unit, involving an extensive transitioning of responsibility for hundreds of medical and dental facilities. It also necessitated centralizing immense volumes of independently managed, formatted and stored records.

APPROACH

A future-proof solution

The DHA turned to SpinSys-Diné, an innovative engineering and systems integrator based in Virginia. It also evaluated a range of products to meet requirements for cost, flexibility, security, long-term support and rapid implementation through proven DoD deployments.

Qlik Talend offered best-of-breed big data capabilities in support of master data management and automation as part of the scalable solution for SpinSys-Diné to integrate into the existing ecosystem. Qlik Talend was easily integrated with the DHA’s existing enterprise tools and data to meet ETL requirements.

Qlik Talend provides the DHA with tools, efficiency and value, allowing the agency to remain focused on day-to-day activities and business needs. With efficiencies through automated data processing alerts, the transaction speeds and accuracy enabled by Qlik Talend are also transforming reporting processes at the DHA.

Qlik Talend workflows have enabled the reuse of jobs and standardization, further enhancing data reliability for downstream systems. Qlik Talend will now seek to expand use of its data processing tools within the DHA and other federal agencies.
