Delivering renewable electrical superhighways
NKT makes the “electrical superhighways” that bring renewable energy to city consumers. Its 24/7 site aims to be the leading provider of subsea cables, making operational stability vital. However, NKT faced severe hurdles.
Data was trapped in silos, leading to intuition-based decisions with no single source of truth. Staff absenteeism constantly disrupted planning, while unpredictable production interruptions, which can be costly, forced a reactive firefighting-based culture that threatened both output and customer trust.
APPROACH
A highly accessible and easily understandable solution
NKT partnered with Qlik and Stretch Qonnect to break down data silos and democratize analytics across the organization. Stretch Qonnect provided vital support in building data models and guiding change management.
Qlik Analytics now acts as a powerful foundation for interactive reporting, complemented by Qlik Subscriptions for automated data delivery. The highly accessible platform includes Qlik Answers, which allows non-technical users to ask plain-language questions, helping to build trust and confidence, and avoid a “black box” system.

With Qlik, NKT shifted from reactive firefighting to proactive, fact-based control. Predicting staff absences and product deviations prevents costly production halts. Management reporting has dropped from weeks to seconds, and AI modeling time from days to minutes.
