CHALLENGE

Data that helps save lives

The work of Associação Fundo de Incentivo à Pesquisa (AFIP), the largest clinical analysis laboratory in the outpatient network of Brazil’s Unified Health System (SUS), involves critical tasks carried out by a highly specialized team. The institution’s operational complexity required a robust analytical approach to optimize the allocation of human resources for public service initiatives, such as test collection.

The institution dealt with siloed data on the time bank and overtime payments. This made it difficult to correlate team availability with actual work demand and to analyze whether there were employees with a negative balance still receiving overtime.

APPROACH

A unified dashboard for agile decisions

An innovative project was implemented to integrate time bank and overtime payment information into a single dashboard, based on Qlik Sense.

The platform is automatically updated with information from AFIP’s HR applications and separates employees into groups according to their time bank status, presenting structured and correlated analyses. The initiative was developed in partnership with Grupo Inteligência de Negócios (IN), Qlik’s Master Reseller in Brazil.

RESULTS

Innovation and data-driven cuture

AFIP began planning work schedules in a more proactive and assertive way, maximizing the use of the time bank and balancing overtime payments. The institution achieved a 50% reduction in overtime volume for a representative group.

The institution also accelerated data democratization. With full information security, managers can access strategic data without compromising employee privacy, in compliance with Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD). Other employees also view the data in an anonymized way, enabling more efficient and transparent management. New project phases are already underway, focused on predictive analytics to further optimize management.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU

Results that go beyond business

Accessible data and detailed analytics empower organizations to make strategic decisions that go far beyond business outcomes. In a country with a population exceeding 212 million people, like Brazil, and where a large portion depends on public healthcare such as SUS, each decision can make the difference between a timely diagnosis and a delayed treatment.

That is why collaborative data visualization and interpretation, generating insights that optimize processes with innovation and reliability, are essential in projects like the one carried out with AFIP.
