A Gartner Magic Quadrant chart for Data Quality Solutions showing various companies positioned based on their ability to execute and completeness of vision.

In its 2022 Magic Quadrant™ for Data Quality Solutions report, Gartner® emphasizes the “importance of having a critical approach toward managing the health and fitness of data.” We agree that “poor data quality completely destroys business value.” Organizations simply cannot afford for data quality to be an afterthought. And if you’re currently in the process of evaluating data solutions for your organization, this report can help. This year, Gartner evaluated 16 data quality vendors, and we’re thrilled that Talend was recognized as a Leader for the fifth time in row.

Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Quality Solutions, September 2022, showing various companies categorized as Niche Players, Challengers, Visionaries, and Leaders. The graph places Talend in the Leader quadrant.

Talend’s end-to-end approach to data management combines capabilities for data integration, self-service data preparation, application and API integration, data integrity, and governance in a single, unified platform – with pervasive, automated data quality throughout.

We believe our recognition as a Leader validates this approach and reaffirms our ability to help customers across every industry achieve healthier data and deliver maximum data value.

In the report, Gartner identifies key assumptions that are important to consider when evaluating different data quality solutions:

At Talend, we focus on data quality through capabilities like the Talend Trust Score™, which is automatically calculated based on data and metadata. The Trust Score provides a complete picture of your data health by combining data quality, popularity, and user-defined ratings. Additionally, Talend leverages AI in many data quality tasks – from data matching to parsing and cleansing – to improve user productivity.

“By 2026, 20% of large enterprises will use a single data and analytics governance platform to unify and automate discrete governance programs.”

Unlike other point solutions that lead to unused, overlapping functionality, increased costs, and operational inefficiencies, Talend’s platform provides an integrated end-to-end solution with pervasive data quality, serving multiple personas and powering key use cases like AI and machine learning, analytics and data science, data and analytics governance, data engineering, master data management, and operational/transactional data quality.

Finally, as the data quality space evolves, vendors will need to incorporate more recent developments like data observability as an extension of augmented data management.

As Gartner expands on in its Critical Capabilities for Data Quality Solutions report, “Data quality solutions continue to transition from stand-alone applications into a set of integrated platforms to address modern data quality requirements. Data quality solutions now include features such as data catalog, data observability and data preparation and support a range of complex use cases and streamlined processes.”

As part of our unified end-to-end approach, Talend incorporates all of those features, and we’ve doubled down our investments in areas such as data observability, driven by our vision of extending our platform’s capabilities with tools like the Talend Data Console.

How Shelter fights the UK’s housing emergency with high-quality data

Shelter is a leader in fighting the UK’s housing emergency. With the unfortunate increase in the size and scale of the homeless crisis, the organization needed to improve its ability to connect with supporters and increase its impact.

According to Graham Barnes, Head of Data and BI for Shelter, “by enhancing data quality, automating more processes, and improving our ability to use that cleaned up data, we’re now better positioned to communicate with our supporter base and serve the millions of people across the UK affected by the housing emergency – and Talend is central to our ability to more effectively manage our data.”

Why Seacoast Bank is banking on higher-quality data

Seacoast Bank is one of the largest community banks headquartered in Florida. The institution recognized the need to enhance operations around data integration and data quality, so that it could deliver faster analytics and reduce costs by automating data quality tasks, all while maintaining regulatory compliance.

“Talend’s data quality and data governance capabilities are very important,” says Mark Blanchette, SVP, Director of Data Management and Business Technology, Seacoast National Bank. “It is a key piece of technology for us to measure and monitor data quality issues.”

How Globe Telecom creates wonderful experiences for mobile subscribers

With over 94.2 million mobile customers and 2 million home broadband customers, Globe Telecom had collected large amounts of data that required a great deal of effort to cleanse in order to be trusted for use throughout the organization. With Talend, the company has seen a 400% increase in trusted email addresses and realizes significantly higher ROI in its marketing campaigns.

“Today, we ensure data quality meets six dimensions: accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, validity, and uniqueness,” explains John Bibal II, Director of Data Engineering and Data Quality at Globe. “We have a data governance team which establishes all business rules for each dimension and these customized business rules are then developed with Talend Big Data Studio to build the data quality scores.”
