Site Reliability Engineer

As Qlik moves to a fully Enterprise SaaS product, our team is at the forefront of the distributed systems that ensure we are scalable, monitored, automated and performing optimally. We own our production environment - from the initial design phases to ensuring continuous high availability. Bring your passion to automate and join our growing team, and dig deep into performance, scalability, capacity and reliability problems. 

You will be successful if you have experience:

  • as a Site Reliability Engineering in a global, distributed multi-tenant production environment.
  • with container and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Mesos, Kubernetes.
  • with running cloud production workloads in various cloud providers, such as AWS or GCP.
  • in one or more of the following languages: Bash, JavaScript, Node.js, Python or Go.

 

You will be successful if you have:

  • a focus on automation: this includes automating deployment, configuration management, and infrastructure as code.
  • a dedicated approach to reacting to and championing resolution of production issues.
  • interest in designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
  • a systematic problem-solving approach, strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.
  • the energy and drive to do things right, in an iterative, agile fashion.
  • a passion for open, transparent communications with other teams and organizations.

 

An asset, if you have experience with:

  • developing, using, or committing to open source projects.
  • source control, including pull requests, branching and merging.

An asset, if you have familiarity with:

  • monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, SumoLogic.
  • automation and configuration management (Terraform, CloudFormation, Spinnaker, Concourse).
  • metrics, logging, tracing and debugging.
  • security (penetration testing, breach detection).
  • compliance (SOC2, HIPA, GDPR).

The role is located in Ottawa, Canada.
