Chris Hansford has more than 40 years’ experience of working in the public sector, both in uniform and as a Civil Servant. Having left school with no formal qualifications, Chris quickly realised that every day is a learning day. Utilising his asset management surveying, project management, accountancy skills and technology experience he has worked as a data, analytics and insight evangelist for Defence, Cabinet Office and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. In his seconded role as Principal Business Intelligence Development Manager with the Environment Agency Chris is using this business knowledge to great effect to assist the EA build state of the art (proof of concept) actionable dashboards and reports using the latest Qlik products, both on premise and in the cloud. Chris is also an advocate for democratising data and promoting its public use through APIs to enable everyone to be able to make key actionable decisions with up-to-date fit for purpose environment and climate data. Additionally, as a 4-year Qlik Luminary Chris is keen to promote the Luminary Program, analytic training/upskilling and data literacy skills within the Defra Group, Central Government and beyond.
