Dominic Graf , BMW Alphabet
Head of Sales Support at Alphabet GB, part of the BMW Group. A commercially focused and experienced manager with a background in both Finance and IT, looking to use data to build competitive advantage for businesses and their customers.
Alphabet GB, part of the BMW Group, is a leading provider of Automotive and Business Mobility solutions for car and commercial vehicle fleets in both the public and private sector. Alphabet in the UK operates over 150,000 cars and commercial vehicles of all makes and models. A key differentiator in bidding on new projects and retaining large existing fleet customers is having a digital portal to allow customers to understand how their fleet is changing over time. As part of their digital transformation, Alphabet have continued to invest in the Qlik platform and in 2021 secured funding to develop a portal based on the Qlik Analytics Platform integrated into the Coeus portal technology supplied by UK Qlik Elite partner Catalyst BI Ltd. One of the main drivers for Alphabet to invest in a digital customer portal was a large bid on a commercial fleet contract that had a customer portal as a mandatory requirement. Alphabet were successful in this bid and showcased the Fleet Insights portal as part of the bidding process. The outcome was securing a multimillion pound, three year contract as the first customer and this had led to several other successful Fleet Management contracts during 2021. A few of the metrics deployed in the Fleet Management portal include: • The total number of vehicle contracts per month over time • Total number of vehicles under management • Average CO2 Development month by month in grams per km • Fuel type over time to track migration to electric fleets • How much are cars over and under in their mileage compared to their contract • When do new vehicles need to be ordered . The project has been so successful that the wider BMW Group are exploring using the Coeus portal solution and Qlik Analytics Platform technologies to roll out a number of external facing portals to support a range of divisions across the Group. This will lead to an expansion of analytics and Qlik usage across the BMW Group. The ease of use and ability to bring Qlik objects into the portal, in a simple, configurable, no code way has opened up the use of data and analytics and brought Qlik to a set of external stakeholders to deliver true value for portal end users and BMW teams. As a leading automation authority, they knew their analytics pipelines had to change to uberize enterprise decision-making with timely access to real-time global data. The combination of Qlik’s Data Integration Platform feeding Snowflake’s modern data cloud with SAP and other data sources is unlocking the hidden value of data at scale, helping create deeper insights faster. - Procurement Controller [80%] & Part-Time Student
Easy accessible data, executive management reporting and a large userbase on Qlik Sense – all this is the result of years of tuning by the Procurement Controlling department of Siemens Smart Infrastructure. Starting at a diverse tool environment, the efforts to create a monthly report cost the department an immense amount of precious working time. Different interfaces and passwords, not user friendly masks and lack of standardization was the battles the users had to face every month with high manual effort.
All this manual labor was transformed step by step by automatizing the data collection, integrating Qlik Sense, training the users and establishing a guided analytics dashboard with a state of the art functionality. Supported by the SI IT DataMart the data resides in a secured cloud environment powered by automatized data access and complex data models in the background. The results are solid. Siemens realizes four key criteria with their units dashboards:
• Their ease of use by standardization and a single source of truth as well as a connection of multiple sources
• High user acceptance through high quality information, trust in the app and data preparation and time saving for all users
• Efficiency through automatic updates, and single point of entry to all applications
• Cost: No time loss for adapting to different tool user interfaces, saving time to focus on operational tasks to generate business value.
All of this, the Journey and the end result will be shared in this breakout session, a guided and gripping development with the best in class use case to take away.
