My career experience started in 2010 when I joined National Bank of Canada ( the 6th largest bank of Canada). I started working as credit analyst in the MasterCard credit department, and my last position was business intelligence analyst in the QA retail division. In 2015, I had the opportunity to join JBS Canada Foods (a division of JBSSA) as business analyst. I spent 3 years as business analysts in multiple line of business such as Sales, Operations and Production, Finance, and Logistics. Though these years, I learnt the business scope at a detail level, and apply data analytics to provide insights. I was reached by BI Team, in the corporate (Greeley, CO), and in October of 2019 I joined this team. Since then, I have expanded the knowledge acquire in the Canada division, and apply it to a large scale to other protein division in the company. Also, I have had the change to train, and develop new employees in the company to use Qlik technologies, provide continuous support to Qlik developers, and work with internal and external stakeholders in multiple projects such as process improvements, creation of Dashboards, and data pipelines.

After graduating with a Digital Communications degree from Lebanon Valley College in 2005 there weren't many opportunities to utilize my education in central PA. I picked up the only job available at the time in the automotive service industry, which lead to working as an associate at Amazon which transitioned into becoming a forklift driver for Arnold Logistics. An opportunity presented itself to join Defense Logistics Agency as a Material Handler which I gladly took. Working in the warehouse isn't where I wanted to be but I knew it's what I had to do to get to where I wanted to be. Working my way through different promotions I left DLA for a position with the United States Army Security Assistance Command where I gained much of my experience in BI and analytics with a Tableau Certification and acquired my lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification from the Army Material Command in 2011. Being presented with an opportunity to return to DLA in 2015 I was able to acquire my MOST certification for Engineered labor standards as a part of the Business and Technology team in J4. In 2016 I was able to join our Operations and Workload Team where I was earned Qlik Certifications in Advanced Geo Analytics Development, Data Analytics, Data Literacy, Advanced-Data Modeling, and Advanced interface Design which allowed me to develop operational business intelligence applications for the DLA Distribution Enterprise. Some of these applications include our customer order fulfillment performance to all service members, support to the COVID strategic missions for the USNS Mercy and Comfort, Covid Vaccine Operations, Covid Test Kit Mission as well as several others.
The utilization of new capabilities has enabled DLA to advance our mission through the development of understandable and actionable ways Senior Leaders can make decisions and drive change in the organization. Joe is responsible for the alignment of business and technology to enable 3rd Generation Business Intelligence at Qlik. He is responsible for use case prioritization, DataOps methodology, and the deployment of information management systems, including all of Qlik’s Data Integration and Data Analytics products. He also provides thought leadership in modern Data Architecture and Data Governance, and serves as an evangelist at major conferences and events. Prior to Qlik, Joe was the Vice President of Enterprise Information Management Technology Services at TD Bank Group. In this capacity, he was responsible for enterprise technology required for the management, transformation, and analysis of information across the Bank. He led the delivery of an enterprise data lake that included a metadata driven catalog and data as a service experience, Hadoop native ETL, and next generation reporting, analytics and artificial intelligence solutions. This is achieved through the annual SPREE; QlikBAM; ongoing program evaluations and research; data quality and governance; the comprehensive school planning process; and professional development and technical assistance offered to District leadership, Assistant Superintendents, and Principals. Dr. Zuniga McDowell has over twenty years of experience in evaluation, data management, college access/success, and higher education and has committed her career to increasing educational opportunities for at-risk and underrepresented students. Prior to joining the District, Keren served as the Director for College Success with the Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) where she managed DSF’s college success services, scholarships, and research and evaluation divisions. Prior to her time at DSF, Keren served as the Director of the Center for Academic Access and Opportunity at Suffolk University in Boston, MA, where she oversaw the institution’s TRIO college access programs. Keren has also served as the Director of Research and Evaluation for two national non-profits, TERI (The Education Resources Institute) and Citizen Schools. In these roles she developed and led various multi-program, multi-site, large-scale program evaluations and data strategy initiatives.
The School District of Philadelphia (SDP) is focused on improving outcomes for all students and is leveraging its data to do so. Using Qlik Sense, SDP has created a set of internal and external dashboards and KPIs to track progress in each area of student achievement, with shared accountability and progress monitoring across multiple stakeholder groups from internal school leaders, to external partners, and the wider community. Easy accessible data, executive management reporting and a large userbase on Qlik Sense – all this is the result of years of tuning by the Procurement Controlling department of Siemens Smart Infrastructure. Starting at a diverse tool environment, the efforts to create a monthly report cost the department an immense amount of precious working time. Different interfaces and passwords, not user friendly masks and lack of standardization was the battles the users had to face every month with high manual effort.
